Set along the exotic Belle Mare coastline in the east of Mauritius, the stunning all-inclusive, adults-only, four-star resort Ambre, provides an unpretentious, yet luxurious tropical atmosphere for a memorable trip to Mauritius.
This bright, lively, “light infused” resort has been created to provide guests with everything they could possibly want all in on space - from a night club and a number of dining establishments and bars, to a tempting pool, stunning beach, tropical spa, fitness centre and water sports kiosk, there really is something for everyone here. With so much at your fingertips, you will really want to ensure your stay here is long enough to fully immerse yourself in the carefree island life at Ambre, as well as explore the island itself.
Ideally, you will want to book a trip for seven days (at least) to get the full benefit of a holiday to this magical destination. Interested to find out what that week here might look for you? This is just an idea of how you could spend 7 days at Ambre:
The first day of a holiday can be a little bit of a challenge; long haul long-distance flights often mean jet lag and you probably haven’t gotten rid of the stress of daily life just yet. That’s why after a little sleep in and a sumptuous buffet breakfast, we recommend heading straight for the beach. Indulge in the beach butler Sun Beach offerings and let stress drift away as you laze on the golden shore or take a swim (and even a snorkel) in the cyan lagoon. It might be a perfect day for a complimentary glass bottom boat trip or a great time to try your hand at some of the water sports on offer.
After some glorious food, why not hit the beach again or spoil yourself to a massage at the tropical spa? Situated in a quiet area of the property, the spa has an array of excellent services to get you into holiday mode in no time.
After a sublime dinner at one of the fabulous Ambre restaurants, you can turn in for an early night or have a cocktail at one of the bars or fully take advantage of the evening entertainment.
If you are feeling revitalised, day two is the perfect day to get a lay of the land and take a road trip to the north of the island. You can self drive this route or hire a taxi for the day instead (but make sure you agree on the amount beforehand).
Some of the recommended stops include the magnificent Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens, the Mauritius Aquarium at Pointe aux Biches, the Red Roof Chapel in Cap Malheureux, Van Ann Chocolate Manufactures, among many others. It’s also a great time to take a stop at one of the many extraordinary northern beaches for a quick dip and perhaps a lunch (accompanied by some shopping) in Grand Baie. Known for its touristic appeal, Grand Baie also has a fantastic nightlife for those interested.
If the weather is perfect, day 3 might just be a great day for a trip to the absolutely outstanding Ile aux Cerfs. And with free transfers (both land and sea transfers) to and from Ambre, it’s easily accessible (you can, of course, also get there by catamaran on a day trip package). Here, everything you could want from a leisure island awaits, with an array of excellent restaurants, a wonderful tropical bar and amazing land- and sea-based activities. There are some small stalls with Mauritians selling beach apparel and trinkets and the beach is set up with sun loungers and towels (the use of this area comes at a small extra cost).
Of course, this island is also home to the world-renowned Ile aux Cerfs Golf Course, the 18-hole championship course designed by golfing legend Bernhard Langer, a course that promises a memorable round. On the golfing side of the island, there is also a golf academy, Pro Shop, exclusive beach and much more.
After a number of exciting days, it might be time to dial it back by making the most of the stunning all-inclusive Mauritian hotel, Ambre. Start the day with a session of yoga on the beach, try your hand at a cooking competition (only held at certain times of the year), participate in a friendly beach volleyball competition or indulge in the opportunity to enjoy the beach and the complimentary non-motorised water sports to the full. Take some time to snorkel the lagoon or if you are a diver, be sure to book yourself an exciting dive.
The vivid and exciting capital of Mauritius is called Port Louis and is situated about an hour from Ambre. This interesting city is worth a full day trip and has so much to offer visitors. Avid shoppers can head to the Caudan Waterfront or the central Port Louis market for everything from designer items to authentic trinkets and more. History buffs have a number of museums to choose from, which include the Blue Penny Museum and the Photography Museum as well as Aapravasi Ghat, a World Heritage Site and a hugely important place for many Mauritians. There is also a wealth of extraordinary local restaurants and food stalls where visitors can get a true taste of Mauritius. As you walk along the streets of the city, take a look around and marvel at the different architectural styles and influences.
On day 6 it’s time to explore a different part of the island with a road trip of the south. The highlights of this trip include Le Morne Beach and Le Morne Brabant, a gorgeous coastal road and the chance to see fabulous waterfalls. You can also head slightly inland and see the tea plantations, visit the Crocodile and Giant Tortoise Park, discover Grand Bassin, Chamarel and the Black River Gorges National Park (which has great hiking trails), with gems like the Rhumerie de Chamarel Restaurant and Rum Distillery along the way. There’s a huge array of things to see and do in the south, so decide which are the priorities, let your driver know and see how many of them you fit in.
After a busy few days, you may just want to take in your last day on the island by making yourself comfortable at Ambre itself. Partake in the daily programme activities, feast on spectacular food and drink, opt for one of the Timeless Memories offerings and take in the sensational tropical paradise of Mauritius - this is what dream holidays are all about.
